First nights on holidays are always tricky. After packing 2 full sized suitcases and a small trolly-case full on clothes, you would think I have plenty to choose from? Think again.
After spending some time unpacking for my long stay here in beautiful Mallorca, I'm always faced with the same dilemmas, year after year. Which I am sure I am not the only one.
Number 1. "I'm too pale to wear that flowery/white/strappy/short dress"
Now, I know some of you organised folk go for spray tans before hopping on that plane. I on the other hand have a strange aversion about having fake tan on before I go on holiday, to me it defeats the purpose slightly, I want to see my skin change colour from a grey-seethrough to a dark rich mahogany. Ok maybe not that dark, but you get the picture.
Hmm...I can practically hear you... yes, yes, yes, I am well aware that if I sunbathe I will look like a well worn, brown leather alexa bag by the time I am 30. But for those of you who don't know, living in Scotland, brings one positive and that is; definitly no harmful sunlight. It rains and is dreadfully cloudy for the 10 and a half months I live there. So 1 month of the Spanish sun is fine...some might say- healthy!
So back to the dilemmas....
Number 2. "That dress will look great with a tan..."
Please see number 1.
Number 3. "I want to keep that for later on...when I have a tan..."
Ok, see where I am going?
So my solution was...a Maxi. This way, you don't have to wear jeans on you first night, it covers, its feminine, fabulous and makes you feel as though you
have arrived on your holidays- ready to transform into a beach babe overnight.
You can slowly work your way up to a 'all legs (and tan) on show-full blown- holiday-I'm flipping fabulous' ensemble.
Some of these to follow, hopefully!
