L.A Part 3

So here we have it. The Style Edit.

Whilst in LA I was won over with their relaxed yet chic styling. From shop assistants, to passers-by, there was individuality with each take on it. But each time it was so perfectly effortless, or  'heartbreakingly cool' as I often referred to them.

During the day there were a lot of maxi skirts matched with sheer/thin tight vests and lots of bracelets; skinny jeans & the perfect T; aztec shorts, studed/shredded shorts pairs with a floaty top.

But the number one look, that was all the rage was.. wait for it... GYM WEAR. I don't think gym wear has looks so good before. I wanted to stay in my gym gear all day, they make it look like the hottest trend about.

At night it was super glam, how it should be!

The clothes & shoes were one thing, but the LA girl was all about the accessories. They have the ability to throw on jeans & a T, with the right amount of rings/bracelets/necklaces, style their long wavy grown out blonde hair in a top knot or let down and grab a pair of sunglasses... and it looks....well perfect.

Think boho chic, Rachel Zoe, Lauren Conrad, Nicole Ritchie, Vanessa Hudgens ...et al.

Now, when it came to taking photos of said style, I got carried away with the eating, drinking and relaxing that I sadly left it to the last day.
So I spent a couple of hours in the beautiful Grove shopping centre to 'style stalk'. After a large coffee to perk me up,  some small teenage girl squeals at Saved By The Bell's AC Slater....

I was ready with my camera.

Here were some of lovely ladies who posed oh-so-well...

 Colour Denims
LOVES the turquoise skinnies! So summery & fresh!
I'm a huge fan of the way this girl's blazer is just covering her shoulders....see what I mean- effortlessly cool!

These girls were both rocking Denim & Black with the 'tail tops'

Bang on trend satchel in fluorescent yellow & bright shoes

These London cuties were spot on with their outfits. Maxi skirts, layering, oversized jumpers & just the right accessories. They did a great job at looking the part as part of the LA glam squad.

L.A. Part 2

I could literally fill pages & pages of this blog of photos of various pieces of food art, like this one...

Apple Tartin @ Fig & Olive
and these ones...

Famous Chicken Caesar Salad & Steak Tatare @ Boa

But I wont.

The food was incredible; it's one of the main reasons we visit LA. But let's focus on the task in hand. Fashion.
Here's an outfit post that kind of follows on from a previous one

Ladies & Gents...I found another bibbed necklace!

The necklace was an exciting find from Zara. I missed it in the UK stores, so when I spotted it in LA I did a little celebratory bum wiggle as I took it off the shelf! It's super easy to wear as well...it looks great with this colour pallet, under a plain shirt collar/ blouse, or as the focus with a plain black dress. It ties at the back to it's easy to adjust the height of the bib- up high for under shirt collars, or lower down for a low cut top.

Necklace, Bag, Blazer & Skirt- Zara
Belt- Vintage
Shoes- Louboutin
Top- AA

Next post will be LA Street Style & how to get their look!

L.A. Part 1

A much needed break from work was given in the form of an amazing trip to L.A. with the boyf.
My plan was to eat and drink myself into a coma where I would be placed in the sun to catch some rays, then taken out to do it all again for lunch & dinner!

We didn't waste any time. 10 mins from car to lounge, as they say.

Virgin Clubhouse

We shared some salad & sushi to nibble on as we waiting on our lunch. Blake had the small Clubhouse burger and I had lamb kofta with cruchy slaw & tzatziki. Deeelish!

After a few more glitter cocktails and a shellac manicure for me & a hair cut for Blake it was time for boarding...and yip more food.
Lunch number 2.

We ate together in my pod, and we were spoiled for choice.

Started off with an amuse-bouche
Cherry tomato, mozzarella ball & olive in a garlic mayonaise

Cream of Pea Soup with Pea Shoots
Prawn Cocktail
Red Thai Chicken Curry
Grilled Fillet of Beef

 Really? Plane food?
Sticky toffee pudding & Lemon tart with raspberry compot
Had a quick nap...
 & had another sushi hit!
Afternoon Tea

Safe to say after lunch, dinner, various nibbles & afternoon tea, we arrived at LAX stuffed and ready for bed.
Our heads hit the pillows at our favourite -The London in West Hollywood, ready for a week of more food, drink, shopping & capturing the effortlessly chic L.A. style.

Glad to be back :)

Stork Express Airlines

19th of April is the expected arrival date of another baby into the family...so throwing a baby shower in honour of this was of course the job of 'the best auntie in the world'...(quoted- not my own words, honest!)

I fancy myself as a bit of a party planner, so excitedly began thought- showering ideas soon after the pregnancy was announced! I threw one for my sister-in-law for her first baby 2 years ago, so had a rough idea of what I was letting myself in for. It had to be bigger and better, and more impressive than any other shower. Anything less just wouldn't be acceptable.

My goodness this thing grew arms and legs.

My teacher brain took over and I decided I would have an organised, well thought-out theme for the shower...I give you...

  Stork Express Airlines

Welcome aboard...

Each passenger would pick up their 'In Flight Entertainment' cards on arrival & 'Boarding Pass'.

After leaving their gifts at the 'Luggage Drop Off' it was time to have some bubbly, play some baby related games and 'ooh' and 'ahh' over the 3D scans of the new baby...

I had 2 picture frames in the main room one with the 3D scan of my sister in laws first baby beside the first photo of his cute face when he was fresh out the wrapper ...and the other was the current 'bun in the oven's' 3D scan! It's scary how similar they are!

After a few glasses of prosecco on board the prestigious Stork Express Airlines, an announcement was made- there had been an important delivery...

In Flight Cuisine - Afternoon Tea delivered by the Stork

Got Milk?
I bought these cute milk bottles from www.ampulla.co.uk
and the vintage paper straws from this amazingly cute website www.papermash.co.uk
I got the straws, paper dollies and vintage travel tags from this website and with the package was a personalised message from the owner thanking me for supporting her small businness. It's a must visit- fast delivery & very very cute stock!

Everyone loved the ideas of their own special delivery from the stork!

The tea party theme continued and there were loads of cute jars of 'Complimentary sweets'
Jars were from Ikea

Then onto the Refreshments Table- Tea & Bubbly

A Sneak Peak inside the box...

Homemade Sandwiches- Ham, Mustard & Rocket on Brown Bread, Scottish Smoked Salmon, Cream Cheese & Cucumber, Cheddar Cheese Ploughman
Freshly baked Scone, Mini Jam & Clotted Cream
Milk & White Chocolate covered Strawberry
Mini Eclaire
Mini Meringue
Mini Swiss Roll

Before passengers were allowed to disembark the aircraft they had to collect their luggage (A scrummy cupcake & mini rattle) at the 'Baggage Claim'

It took months of planning - but worth every minute!

Now it's time for a holiday

LA here I come....
